Pont du Diable Canyon
Half an hour from Montpellier, between Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and Pont du Diable, the Canyon du Diable is ideal for a canyoning outing with family or friends.
The Canyon du Diable: the ultimate discovery!
Fun, magical, and accessible to everyone, the Canyon du Diable is a true concentrate of jumps (up to 10m). You’ll also find whitewater swimming, zip lines, and ejectable rappels (not mandatory)!
Located next to the magnificent village of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, this canyon delights both seasoned jumpers and lovers of beautiful landscapes. The Canyon du Diable is ideal for learning canyoning in the Hérault gorges.
An aquatic canyon
You can learn floating swimming as the main asset of this canyon is its strong water flow. It’s simply a real treat to let yourself be carried by the current with your legs forward. This allows you to cover hundreds of meters effortlessly. Your arms will act as a rudder, and the sensation of gliding on the water is just enormous!
Numerous jumps
This aquatic canyon is a godsend for people wanting to learn to jump and manage their balance. Thus, this canyon represents a true jumping school. Everyone can find their limits under the expert advice of your guide.
No one performs a 6m jump without having perfectly completed the first levels of 2m and 4m. We recommend taking off with your strong foot and not with feet together. The aerial phase must be maintained with arms spread to maintain your balance. This also ensures better glide through the air. Finally, entry into the water is done with legs extended while bracing your entire body. You must therefore pierce the water and not the other way around. The mistake to absolutely avoid is landing seated on your buttocks. All the impact force will reverberate through your back. You must therefore enter the water with the least possible impact on your body.
Your guide will then guide you on the very first jumps to correct your position. We’ll make sure you can leave the canyon with mastery of your body in the air.
An upper section and a lower section
Two sections are set up in the Hérault for even more fun. The same activities are found in both routes but with a slightly different setting. Both sections each have their own undeniable charm. You can therefore admire different geological and heritage wonders in these two sections (Les Cascadelles, horseshoe, old oil mill, etc.). It’s therefore possible to do both sections back-to-back with a picnic break in the middle upon request (Plan for the full day at a rate of €65/person).

DISCOVERY // INITATION
Description
• In the first part of this unique canyon, you can admire the limestone rock sculpted by thousands of years of erosion. Springs are visible during the descent coming from underground sources. The Fontcaude spring resurging in the Hérault is where we swim at the beginning of the season.
The Cascadelles de l’Hérault are a rare sight as they are covered with tufa (manifestation of a plant cover of mosses and ferns). A complex alchemy between the quality of the porous rock, the temperate climate, and microorganisms allows this formation.
Classified as a Natura 2000 site, we can only admire this geological formation from below, swimming in the water.
– The second part, with its many surprises, is more popular from mid-July to the end of September. Its steepness is greater and its narrowness more pronounced, explaining its abundance of water even in dry periods.
Please let us know if you prefer part 1, part 2 or parts 1 and 2 combined.
