Pic Saint-Loup: a regional jewel!

Experience rappelling and hiking in a majestic setting: Pic Saint-Loup. Our local Everest, culminating at 658m, is a true adventure. This activity requires a minimum of endurance and concentration. If you are athletic, love new experiences, and are seeking new thrills, this activity is for you.

A certain level of fitness is required, but the route remains very accessible to motivated individuals.

This hike is a must in the region. The ideal seasons for this activity are spring and autumn.

The rappelling hike is a mix of several activities that requires a certain level of endurance and concentration. As its name suggests, you will be hiking, especially during the approach phase to reach the summit. These approach walks are quite steep and interspersed with aerial climbing sections that are not very difficult but require concentration. Then, in the second phase, the rappelling descent constitutes the core of the activity.

After a lunch break at the summit of the Pic, we begin the descent, which consists of 5 successive rappels alternating with walking sections. The first rappel is disorienting as you descend through the bowels of the earth. A headlamp will be provided by us to illuminate your way. After traversing under the earth of the Pic, you will emerge directly onto the North Face of the Pic. From there, you will complete 4 more rappels, including a 50m spider-line rappel.

To fully enjoy this unique day safely, Naturéo Sport & Aventure provides you with a harness equipped with a double lanyard, a helmet (with headlamp), a descender, and an autoblock for the rappelling descent. Your guide will brief you on safety and rope descent techniques.

Description

The ascent on foot is via the North Face diagonal. For a good hour, you will combine sporty hiking and easy climbing with aerial sections. This will bring you to the summit where you can discover the legend of Pic Saint-Loup and its chapel. The place is full of energy and legends.

Opposite the Pic, Mount Hortus presents its multiple 110m high climbing routes, a true paradise for local climbers, especially in winter. After contemplating the panoramic landscape and enjoying a picnic to regain your strength, you will begin the descent. 5 magical rappels, including a 50m spider-line rappel, interspersed with walking sections, will lead you back to the return path to find your cars!
